An award-winning English sparkling wine magnum
With an abundance of ripe red apples and pears, toasted hazelnuts, ginger and an underlying savoury minerality, this wine shows impressive depth and complexity, whilst retaining Wiston’s signature precision and elegance. Magnums have the capability to evolve slower and more delicately as well as deliver a broader and multi dimensional flavour spectrum. Perfect for celebrations but divine to open at dinner; we pair this with a show stopping beef wellington or truffle risotto.
In 2017, the year it was released, the 2013 was named the UK’s best sparkler in Decanter’s World Wine Awards and won the English Sparkling Wine trophy in the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) – the two market-defining competitions, and a recognition of the craftsmanship that went into producing this vintage.
Presented in a gift box, it drinks beautifully now and will age fantastically for years to come. To watch our winemaker Dermot Sugrue’s thoughts on this release, please visit our YouTube Channel: Wiston Estate Cuvée 2013 Magnum Tasting with Dermot, Head winemaker – YouTube
In the press
Creamy, and initially lightly floral like the blossom of fruit trees, then dominated by a rich autolytic yeasty note and the first signs of honey... Very long. Even better than the 2013 tasted in 75cl bottle in 2017.
Made by talented Dermot Sugrue, whose wines get better and better... Like all Sugrue’s wines it has taut definition and a lively tang but there are also some lovely, warmer, honeyed notes.
This award-winning wine was highly praised in 2017 and has now been released in a limited number of magnums. It’s one of the most exciting flavours of the year... Use it to toast the New Year in style.
