Wiston Estate Vineyards work alongside a Multi award-winning winery set in the heart of the South Downs.
We are looking for a Vineyard Technician to lead the Wiston Estate Vineyard team to produce the highest quality fruit for Sparkling wine production. Ensuring all vineyards are managed with an emphasis on principals of sustainability both economically and environmentally while still playing a key role in maintaining vineyard operations, from planting, canopy management, data collection, tractor operations (spraying and weed management, etc), quality control, harvest and pruning while adhering to industry regulations and best practices.
Overall a key interest in viticulture and a passion for wine production is essential. You will be an integral part of a well-motivated vineyard team, who take pride and ownership of the vines and fruit produced
Job requirements will be;
- To engage with contract labor teams providing training where required and supervision. Shouldering the duty of care while in the vines.
- Engage strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a team, inspire cooperation, and provide guidance.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Update and maintenance logs kept of all machinery. Such as; Monitor working conditions to identify any risks and address concerns promptly, fostering a safe environment.
- Promote a culture of safety, ensuring that all team members always follow health and safety guidelines.
- Due diligence taken to execute the Vineyard Management plan in a timely fashion while ensuring safety and quality of work
- A basic understanding of agricultural and environmental regulations, including pesticide use, health and safety, and water management.
- Ability to work safely in an agricultural environment, with a focus on compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Update work logs on data collecting apps
- Collecting data to guide decision making processes in the vineyard, with emphasis on sustainability both economic and environmental.
- Monitoring of pests and disease
- Execution of spray program
- Assist in all aspects of vineyard work, including planting, pruning, pest control, and harvest – ensuring quality and consistency in all operations.
Tractor experience is essential, and Spray tickets are desirable but not essential.
There is an opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of new and innovative vineyard practices, focusing on optimizing grape production and quality

Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 per annum
