Birds, Butterflies & Bubbles at the Wine Barn

Join us for a gentle wander across the rolling chalk grasslands of the South Downs, where the classic sights and sounds of downland nature await. Listen for the jangling song of the Corn Bunting and look up for the Skylark as it whistles and trills its melody overhead. With butterflies flitting among the wildflowers and skylines stretching for miles, this is a celebration of open space, fresh air, and the simple joy of being outdoors.

Guided by Penny our Estate Ecologist, who will help you notice and appreciate the flora and fauna that make the South Downs so special.

At the end of the walk, we will enjoy a shortened tasting of three Wiston wines in the Wine Barn. This is a perfect way to toast the day and savour the essence of the South Downs.

• How long is the walk? The walk will be a gentle pace and last approximately 1.5- 2 hours, including our sparkling wine stop.
• How far will the walk be? The route is relatively short and unhurried, but it does include natural woodland paths and uneven ground.
• Where should we park?  At Findon Park Vineyard Wine Barn. The team will contact you ahead of the event and share full details.
• Is the walk suitable for all fitness levels? Participants should feel comfortable walking at a steady, relaxed pace on uneven terrain. Unfortunately the route is not suitable for those with limited mobility.
• What should I bring? Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear for woodland terrain. Even in dry weather, paths maybe uneven or muddy. If you have binoculars, we encourage you to bring them along to help spot birds and butterflies.
• Is the event suitable for children? This is an adults only event (18+)
• Are dogs allowed? No dogs are permitted on this walk. We will be engaging closely with wildlife and natural habitats, and dogs can unintentionally disturb birds and other species.
• Are there toilet facilities? There will be toilet facilities at the Wine barn but not during the walk.
• What happens if the weather is bad? The event is weather dependent. In the case of adverse weather conditions, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule. Ticket holders will be contacted directly with as much notice as possible.
• Is the sparkling wine included in the ticket? Yes- your ticket includes a glass of Wiston Estate Sparkling wine enjoyed during your walk.
• What is your cancellation and refund policy? Refunds are available with more than 48 hours notice prior to the event. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds for cancellations made within 48 hours of the event.
