About us
Chalk draws together the highlights of fresh local produce, including ingredients from the Estate and its neighbours. We aim to create dishes that express the nature, heritage, and purpose of the land we share. Our dinners are a set Estate Menu—a set six course dinner showcasing produce grown, farmed and foraged on Wiston Estate and the Sussex Coast. We are proud to retain our place in the MICHELIN Guide 2026, to have been named Restaurant of the Year at the Beautiful South Awards 2025–26, and to be recognised by TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best in 2025, placing Chalk in the top 1% of restaurants worldwide.
Menus change regularly as we use seasonal local produce, so samples are a guide only. Chalk is fully wheelchair accessible, with nearby parking and accessible toilets. Reservations are available up to six months ahead. For special occasions beyond this, please email [email protected]

We do accept walk-ins however we strongly recommend making a reservation for your meal at Chalk. For reservations of more than 8 guests, or booking our Private Dining Room which sits up to 10 guests please email [email protected] for your booking. 01903 877845.
Need to Knows
- Please note that we are a cashless restaurant, so all payment is required on card. All bookings require card details to secure your table, but no payment is taken. However please note we will charge £25 per person for any tables who do not show without a cancellation 48 hours before the booking (£45 per person for dinner no shows).
- We can accommodate most dietary and allergen requirements – please make a note on your booking and speak to the team when you arrive.

- We charge £25 per 75cl bottle for corkage.
- We do not allow dogs in the restaurant, however they are welcome at tables in the courtyard which will be open whenever the sun shines!
- Chalk Restaurant is fully wheelchair accessible, disabled parking just a short distance with the option to be dropped under cover by our cellar door as well as easily accessible toilets.
- Uber taxis can be easily booked to and from Chalk
