Cellar Hand

Wiston Estate Winery is a multi award-winning winery set in the heart of the South Downs.

Each year we grow our winery team around harvest time to help bring in the vintage, and we’re now recruiting Cellar Hands for the 2026 harvest season.

At Wiston Estate Winery we focus on quality, making the best sparkling and still wines for both our own brands and a wide range of contract winemaking clients. We work with fruit from across England, creating a fast-paced and rewarding harvest environment where no two days are the same.

As a Cellar Hand, you will be at the heart of the winery operation, supporting the winemaking team with all aspects of fruit processing, fermentation and cellar work. This is a physically active, hands-on role and an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a busy commercial winery.

We are committed to ensuring everyone is happy and engaged in their work and provide a range of responsibilities so you will learn a lot during your time at Wiston. In return, we’ll expect a positive attitude, good attention to detail and a willingness to get stuck in and work hard.

Daily tasks include:

  • Fruit intake and processing
  • Press loading and operation
  • Tank, press and equipment cleaning
  • Juice and wine transfers
  • Fermentation monitoring and pump-overs
  • Inoculations and additions
  • Racking and filtration support
  • Forklift operation (where licensed and trained)
  • General winery housekeeping and cellar organisation

Our harvest usually lasts approximately 6–8 weeks, kicking off in mid-to-late September. Working hours can vary depending on fruit arrivals, and some evening and weekend work will be required during busy periods.

You must be able to work in the UK. Your own accommodation and transport are essential due to our location. In your application, please indicate your full-time availability, including your preferred start and end dates.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with great people, gain valuable winery experience and help create some exceptional English wines. We look forward to meeting you!
