“A richly full-flavoured and stylish Dorian Gray of an English sparkler.”
Anthony Rose – The World of Fine Wine

THE VINEYARD & vintage
Findon Park Vineyard was planted in 2006 on a south-facing slope in the heart of the South Downs, where classic Sussex chalk lies beneath the vines. It benefits from the moderating influence of the sea – with the Sussex coast being 4km further south, and the chalk subsoil helps drain in the wetter years, and retain moisture when summers are hot. The exceptional 2009 growing season brought warm, settled weather, minimal spring frosts and perfectly timed rainfall, allowing the fruit to ripen beautifully while retaining its natural freshness. Hand harvested over two weeks in October, the vintage delivered outstanding quality, balance and elegance, making it one of the finest early harvests from the estate.

winemaking
The Chardonnay for this Blanc de Blancs comes from the steepest and highest part of the vineyard, where the vines root deep into the South Downs chalk. Following gentle pressing in Wiston’s traditional Coquard press, fermentation took place in a combination of Burgundy barrels and stainless steel, without malolactic fermentation, before the wine was bottled in July 2010 for its second fermentation. This set showcases the very same wine, with one bottle disgorged in 2016 and the other left to mature on its lees until 2024. Together they reveal how extended cellar ageing shapes the texture, complexity and character of a traditional method sparkling wine over time.

discover the difference
This tasting set offers the rare opportunity to compare two bottles of exactly the same wine, separated only by their disgorgement date. As you taste them side by side, you’ll discover how additional years ageing on the lees can influence aroma, texture and flavour. There’s no right or wrong favourite. Each bottle tells a different part of the same story. We’ve included a sparkling wine stopper so you can revisit both wines over the following few days and experience how they continue to evolve after opening.
